Growing up in Israel was an incredible cultural and culinary experience. Israel had lots of immigrants from around the world who brought with them authentic dishes and unique cooking styles. My Mom was no different. She was creative in the kitchen and prepared delicious meals, using nutritious ingredients that were native to the land.
Years later, after my daughter was born in the US, I started paying more attention to health and nutrition. I realized that most food products at the stores, especially snacks, were loaded with preservatives, sugar, and sodium. Type 2 diabetics and kids’ obesity started to grow exponentially. There was a growing need for creating a healthier alternative, without compromising the delicious flavors that we all craved.
Thus Tulia was born. We started experimenting with the same simple, delicious ingredients that Mediterranean families had enjoyed for centuries; tahini, dates, pomegranates, and apples. And, we put them together the way Mama would, with lots of care and a big fat hug. Plant based, organic, kosher, and free of preservatives, gluten, soy, nuts, and refined sugars. These snacks would be for everyone, because from where I’m from, nobody goes hungry.
